"Holotype" Opens at The Leonardo

The Leonardo will celebrate the completion of one of its premier exhibits beginning February 5. Holotype is a large-scale sculptural environment that engages visitors in the fascinating, though largely underappreciated organism, algae.

The Leonardo Hosts Civil Right Exhibit

The Leonardo is now featuring This Light of Ours: Activist Photographers of the Civil Rights Movement, a new traveling exhibit that runs through May 2012. Produced by the Center for Documentary Expression and Art (CDEA), this exhibition depicts the African-American freedom struggle in the South between 1963 and 1966.
Alexandra Hesse Promoted to Executive Director of The Leonardo

The Leonardo’s Associate Executive Director Alexandra Hesse has been promoted to the position of Executive Director. The Leonardo’s former Executive Director Peter Giles, joined The Leonardo shortly after the BODY WORLDS exhibition in 2009. Giles will continue to be involved as a board member and in assisting with fundraising and strategic counsel.
The Leonardo Hosts Holiday Food Drive for Catholic Community Services

Dec. 7 through Dec. 18, The Leonardo is hosting a food drive benefitting Catholic Community Services (CCS). Guests who present a non-perishable food item at The Leonardo’s admissions desk will receive any adult ticket to the museum for just $10, a discount of up to 30 percent.

The Leonardo will open The Leo Store, a retail museum shop, on Friday, Dec. 2, just in time for holiday shopping. The Leo Store will offer a collection of unique gifts that mirror the museum’s eclectic mix of science, technology and creativity, and include jewelry and clothing, electronic games and devices, smartphone accessories, art supplies and kits, as well as home accents.
